Blissful Wishes Ball

For the 3rd year in a row, we have been invited to photograph the Blissful Wishes Ball.  The ball is a fundraiser for Wish Upon a Wedding, which is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that provides weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal illness and serious life altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation.  The organization was created to celebrate the courage, determination and spirit of these couples by granting their dream wedding Wishes. Their hope is that chosen recipients can inspire other couples facing similar situations to find hope and strength.

Gerber+Scarpelli was one of the original participants to be "wish-granters"- we provided the photography for a lovely couple, Beth and Nick.  You can see their blog post here.

This year, our own Nick Gerber was nominated for the Shining Star Award, which recognizes wedding industry professionals that are philanthropic in the Chicago Wedding industry.  Previously, Kurt Gerber has won the award.

Katie & Chris' Cafe Brauer Wedding

Katie & Chris tied the knot on a chilly autumn day.  We started by photographing the bride and groom while getting ready for their ceremony at St. Alphonsus Church.  After the ceremony, we hoped in a party bus and did photos around town.  We were even able to stop at the exact spot Chris proposes; along a wooded path in Lincoln Park.  Then, their reception began at Cafe Brauer.

Libby & Chris's Downtown Chicago Wedding

Libby's 'Something Blue' - her shoes, a family heirloom ring and her earrings from the day (left) and a detail of her dress (right)

Libby had a pin from her grandmother who had passed that she pinned to her bouquet.
Just before Thanksgiving we got the delight of working with Libby and Chris! Though the couple lives in Portland - she's from the Chicago area and had always dreamed of a downtown event. They put their heads together and came up with The Wit Hotel and had the wedding she'd always dreamed of! After seeing each other for the first time on the roof of the wit we went around Chicago before an beautiful ceremony in the ballroom which was then flipped for the reception. Not a detail was missed with planning assistance from Anthony Gowder who also did the florals. Take a look at some of our favorites from their day below as well as their slideshow!

Chris & Libby seeing each other for the first time

Fun in front of the Wrigley Building

It was a rather cold day (shocking - we know) so we ducked into the W Hotel on Adams for a quick photo-purtunity!

Beautiful details and a wonderful view of State St - reminding the couple's guests that they were right in the heart of downtown

Libby & Chris's First Dance

Holy Dance Party, Batman!

Sneaking down the The Chicago Theater for a quick "night cap"

A lovely way to close a wedding album if we do say so ourselves!

Jenna & Pat's Fulton's on the River Wedding

What a fun couple!  Jenna and Pat had a beautiful wedding; they got married at Old St. Pat's and celebrated for the rest of the day!  We stopped by some beautiful spots, including Buckingham Fountain and Olive Park, to take photos of the lovebirds and their wedding party.  Then, Toast and Jam rocked everyone at the reception at Fulton's on the River.
