The Proposal: While Brett and Katie knew that they wanted to get married after graduating from Notre Dame, the proposal itself was a complete surprise. It was senior year Spring Break and the couple had gone to London to visit Brett's parents who were living there at the time. They decided to take the Chunnel to Paris for the weekend since Katie had never been. The couple spent an entire day touring museums and climbing monuments before heading to the Eiffel Tower. When Katie and Brett got to the very top (after a very rickety elevator ride), Brett grabbed her hand and started pulling her towards the side with the best views. Suddenly, he was on his knees on the ground. It happened so fast she thought that he had finally tripped over his stubborn shoelace that had been coming untied all day. And then he pulled out the ring. Katie recounts that she honestly doesn't remember a word of what Brett said while he was on his knee. She just know he had the sweetest grin on his face and she was bursting with happiness and excitement. Katie says she must have said yes, since they planned a beautiful wedding and are now very happily married!
The Wedding: the day was planned by Gail Schroeder from the University Club, and that is where we started getting ready. Katie's makeup was by Michelle from Crizen Hasegawa, hair by Lesley also from Crizen Hasegawa, her gown was Paloma Bianca from Mon Amie Bridal, with shoes by Vans.
The Bridesmaid's wore Lazaro dresses from Macy's, with the Groom and Groomsmen wearing Vera Wang from Men's Warehouse. After everyone got ready, we took Katie upstairs to meet Brett in the Library for their first look. Once they had their private moment together, we rejoined their wedding party to go outside for photographs. We walked together through Millennium Park and then on to the Art Institute before leaving for the ceremony at Old St. Patrick's Church. After Katie and Brett tied the knot, we headed back to the University Club for the reception!
Florals were by Erin Foster at A Stem Above, and the evenings entertainment was by Roberto Monastero.
Congrats Katie and Brett!
