Katie+Brett's Winter University Club Wedding

The Proposal: While Brett and Katie knew that they wanted to get married after graduating from Notre Dame, the proposal itself was a complete surprise. It was senior year Spring Break and the couple had gone to London to visit Brett's parents who were living there at the time. They decided to take the Chunnel to Paris for the weekend since Katie had never been. The couple spent an entire day touring museums and climbing monuments before heading to the Eiffel Tower. When Katie and Brett got to the very top (after a very rickety elevator ride), Brett grabbed her hand and started pulling her towards the side with the best views. Suddenly, he was on his knees on the ground. It happened so fast she thought that he had finally tripped over his stubborn shoelace that had been coming untied all day. And then he pulled out the ring. Katie recounts that she honestly doesn't remember a word of what Brett said while he was on his knee. She just know he had the sweetest grin on his face and she was bursting with happiness and excitement. Katie says she must have said yes, since they planned a beautiful wedding and are now very happily married!
The Wedding: the day was planned by Gail Schroeder from the University Club, and that is where we started getting ready. Katie's makeup was by Michelle from Crizen Hasegawa, hair by Lesley also from Crizen Hasegawa, her gown was Paloma Bianca from Mon Amie Bridal, with shoes by Vans.
The Bridesmaid's wore Lazaro dresses from Macy's, with the Groom and Groomsmen wearing Vera Wang from Men's Warehouse. After everyone got ready, we took Katie upstairs to meet Brett in the Library for their first look. Once they had their private moment together, we rejoined their wedding party to go outside for photographs. We walked together through Millennium Park and then on to the Art Institute before leaving for the ceremony at Old St. Patrick's Church. After Katie and Brett tied the knot, we headed back to the University Club for the reception!
Florals were by Erin Foster at A Stem Above, and the evenings entertainment was by Roberto Monastero.
Congrats Katie and Brett!

Nyssa+Julio's Cafe Brauer Wedding

The Proposal: Julio and Nyssa both were in the Medical Device Industry at different companies.  They met through work to network as our territories overlapped; and quickly a friendship developed.  After months of being friends they ran into each other at a party on July 4th in Chicago, 2011.  It was at this party that Julio decided to her out on a first official date.  Nyssa initially said no because she didn’t want to ruin the friendship they had, but Julio insisted that he take her out.
Fast forward to 2013, after 2 years of dating Julio planned a 4th of July weekend get away to Grand Haven, MI.  The couple stayed at an adorable B&B for the weekend to relax and enjoy a quaint summer holiday weekend.  That Saturday during their getaway Julio had chartered a private boat for a sunset cruise.  As the sunset, they posed for a picture, and Julio got down on one knee and asked Nyssa to marry him! Fortunately, the captain was in on the surprise and was able capture the moment in a photo!

The Wedding: Nyssa started the day getting ready at the Westin with hair by Nataliya Ilkiv and makeup by Lisa Trunda.  Her gown from Glamour Closet was by Oscar de la Renta, shoes by Jimmy Choo, and jewelry by Haute Bride from Belle Vie. The Bridesmaid's wore Adrianna Papell from Bloomingdales, with the Groom wearing a tuxedo by Suit Supply, and the Groomsmen wore Vera Wang from Men's Warehouse. The day was planned by Estera Events, videography by Elite Video Productions, and florals by HMR Designs
After getting ready, Nyssa was whisked away in a Rolls Royce to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church for their ceremony. After they officially became husband and wife, we took the newlyweds and their bridal party to Olive Park and one of our favorites spots on Michigan Ave. for photos before heading to Cafe Brauer for the reception. Catering was by Tiger Lily Events, with cake by Tipsy Cakes, entertainment by Toast & Jam , and a special set by Mariachi Monumental de Mexico. It was a great night!
Congrats Nyssa and Julio!
