Laura+Mac's Hellenic Museum Wedding

The Proposal: On the night of January 24th Mac took Laura on a date to Piccolo Sogno (little dream in English) in the River West area for dinner during restaurant week.  It was just 3 days before her birthday and it was a very cold, windy, snowy night.  They sat down at a quaint little table in the corner by the wine cellar, ordered a delicious 4 course meal and enjoyed the ambiance.  When the entrees arrived Laura realized that Mac had not been eating a thing and he had also got up to go to the bathroom twice.  The third time that Mac got up to go to the bathroom the check had arrived and he still had not returned.  Laura grabbed the check holder, but instead of the check it was a love letter from Mac.  She immediately started to tear up as she read the letter that he wrote.  The letter instructed her to meet him at their happy place, which is the area by the Adler Planetarium.  Laura immediately threw her coat on, grabbed her purse, and head to the valet for the car.  The valet let her know she had a good amount of makeup on her cheeks.  Getting in the car, the song Your My Lady is playing on the radio and she continued to get emotional.  It was all such a surreal and magical night.  After weaving in and out of Chicago traffic Laura came zooming around the corner to see Mac running out of the car that she later realized his sister Katie was in (she had picked him up from the restaurant).  She barely managing to put the car in park before running into Mac’s arms.  The couple head over to the sidewalk where Mac got down on one knee and proposed to her.  After a good 5 minutes of FREAKING OUT and taking pictures they quickly ran back to the car to defrost.  That was the beginning of their amazing journey becoming the Stahrs.

The Wedding:
The day started with getting ready at the Crowne Plaza with Laura's hair and makeup by Zea Salon. She wore a beautiful gown from A Joyful Occasion, shoes from Tom's, and jewelry from Etsy completed her look. Bridesmaid's wore Jasmine Galleria, with the Groom and Groomsmen wore suits from Topman Suits. After getting ready we headed to Old St.Patrick's Church where Mac saw Laura for the first time coming down the aisle. After the two were married we went to Olive Park for the photo session. Then it was off to the National Hellenic Museum for their reception. Phillip's Flowers provided the gorgeous florals, catering was by D'Absolute Events Catering, music by The Lisa Renee Band, cake by Mariano's , and cinematography by Leap Weddings. Destination Grand Rapids, MI: Alfie & Amy's Backyard Wedding

Alfie and Amy (whose last name is Bravo - hence the sign!) are from the DC area but decided to get married at the bride's parent's home in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  These two put a lot of DIY work into their wedding; from the bouquet, to the signs, food, and decor.  They even found a few things... the men's ties on Etsy and the arbor in someone's trash!  In true Michigan fashion, these two had Founders beer on tap!  Because a lot of their guests are (or were) in bands, their reception ended with a pool party/sing-along that lasted until the wee hours of the morning - Enjoy!

Katie & Travis

Katie and Travis have been familiar faces around the O2 studio lately.  You may remember their Save the Dates: vintage ties with a label for their wedding.  Or perhaps their engagement session in Libertyville.  Their September wedding was so incredible, it's almost impossible to articulate it all in this blog post!!  They started out by getting ready at the Marriott River North.  We did some photos around the hotel (even running into one of Chicago's nightly news anchorwomen!) before making our way to the Red Canary for the ceremony.  The groomsmen were jealous that the bridesmaids got to hold flowers during the ceremony, so the bride and groom told them to take beers up to the ceremony to even it out!  The Lagunitas bottles went great with their boutonnieres from Etsy.  The bride is a graphic designer, so she designed their ceremony programs as paper airplanes.  As the couple recessed down the aisle, their guests threw them into the air - a cool alternative to rice or bubbles.  After the intimate ceremony, we went around the city for a great time taking photos.  We returned to the reception, and the couple spent the rest of the night mingling with their loved ones.  Travis & Katie did cupcakes instead of cake, and offered baking extracts as their wedding favor.  The place was looking great with flowers from Flowerama.  Check out the slideshow to see the full awesome-ness of this day!!
